Call for Educational Sessions
NCAFCS Annual Conference
March 5-7, 2010
Wrightsville Beach, NC
 
The NCAFCS Planning Committee announces a Call for Educational Sessions to be considered for presentation at the 2010 NCAFCS Annual Conference in Wrightsville Beach, NC. 
 
Submit a cover sheet and one-page program proposal with a cover sheet and an abstract following the format outlined below. Proposals can be submitted for a 50-minute time slot, including time for questions. Proposals will be considered for presentations in any related field. Submissions that fit into the theme of the 2010 AAFCS Annual Meeting, New Century for FCS: New Challenges, New Solutions or the 2010 NCAFCS Annual Conference theme, The Future: FCS Pieces of the Puzzle, are encouraged.  See pages 2-3 for topic ideas.
 
Proposals must be submitted via email (Microsoft Word attachment) to Dr. Cheryl Lee (leecl@appstate.edu) no later than January 15, 2010. Submissions will be peer-reviewed, and applicants will be notified by February 15, 2010.   Acceptance for presentation obligates the author(s) to be registered for the annual conference and present an educational session at the annual conference.
 
Format for Proposal Submission
 
The cover sheet must include the following information:
·         Title of Presentation
·         Name of Submitter, Title, and Employer (provide same information for additional presenters)
·         Email and phone
·         Format of Session (lecture, workshop, panel, etc.)
·         Abstract of submission for program (limited to 50 words)
·         Signature of Faculty Advisor/Instructor (undergraduate and graduate student submissions only)
Following the cover sheet, prepare a one-page (11-12 font) program proposal to provide the review committee a description of the presentation. Proposals will be judged in accordance with the following criteria: (1) significance of the education session to the profession; (2) soundness of the approach; (3) anticipated learning outcomes; (4) application of materials to classroom and community settings; and (5) clarity and organization of writing. Include the following information in the program proposal:
  • Title of presentation
  • Purpose/goal/theme of presentation: Summarize the presentation. Indicate how the proposal addresses the meeting theme and/or addresses family and consumer needs
  • Target audience: i.e., pre-professionals, high school FCS teachers, university professionals, etc.
  • Practical application of presentation concept: Detail the practical application of the idea(s) to be presented. Describe ways in which this information is innovative, timely, and/or unique.
  • Expected outcome(s) of the presentation/project/activity.
 
Please note: Presenter will provide own materials and equipment.
I understand that if the abstract is accepted, the presenting author is obligated to present an educational session at the annual conference. The Educational Sessions will last 50 minutes.
