NCAFCS 2026 Research Call
The submission deadline has been extended through January 5, 2026
Greetings from the NCAFCS Research Committee,
Please consider presenting your research at the upcoming 2026 Annual Conference of the North Carolina Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, to be held at Shell Island Resort in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina on March 25-27, 2026. This is a great opportunity for educators and students to present research and creative works at our state-level conference, gaining valuable experience in oral and poster presentations. This year, all abstract submissions will be peer-reviewed, providing a high quality, rigorous review by experts across family and consumer sciences. We are open to all types of research, basic scientific, social science, and creative arts! Research happens in our classrooms, in the community, and in laboratories. We would love to have a diversity of thought and work at the conference, so please consider submitting your work for review!
Full submission guidelines can be found at this link: https://www.ncafcs.org/s/NCAFCS-Call-for-Research-2026.pdf
Click here for the link to electronically submit your abstracts,
Most importantly, submissions should be received by December 12, 2025, for full consideration. If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Beth Newcomb Hopfer, NCAFCS Research Chair, at eanewcom@ncat.edu or 336-285-3628.
Thank you for considering!
Beth

2026 New and Improve Fundraising Raffle
We are excited to continue our tradition of raising money for the NCAFCS Ellen Brewer Student Fund through a fun raffle. In the past, we have hosted a silent auction. In 2026, we are trying something new - a fun raffle. It will be set up very similar to a silent auction but instead of sheets to place your bid, there were little buckets to drop raffle tickets into. You can purchase the tickets at the registration desk and place them in the buckets associated with the thing(s) you hope to win.
As in previous years, we need your help. Please bring an item and/or a basket to donate for our raffle. It can be an item from your school (teacher-made or student-made), something that represents your hometown, or anything that you think others might enjoy. Hand-crafted items are always great and will show off your creativity! For the fun raffle, we would appreciate it if you would write a brief description of what you are donating. And please send us a picture of your fun raffle items so that we can give attendees a sneak preview!
The ticket prices will be as follows:
$1 = 1 ticket
$5 = 7 tickets
$20 = 25 tickets
$50 = 75 tickets
We will be announcing all raffle winners during the closing session. Thanks so much for your support of this project! We look forward to seeing all the special items you bring.
Please contact Linda Brown Bishop at ldbrown.nc@gmail.com or Marilyn Y. Gore at marilyngore2121@outlook.com for more details.
NCAFCS would like to thank our partner organizations who are supporting the 2026 annual meeting.
