Marilyn Gore in the Cast of the Award Winning Cinematic Short Flim—Bleached

 In July 2025, Marilyn received an email from her high school band director's grandson, Ralph Parker, III. Ralph is a filmmaker and was in the process of co-directing a short film for the NAACP Cinematic Shorts Competition for their convention that was held in Charlotte, NC. The film is entitled Bleached and is about a young woman completing her grandmother's quilt. He asked for insight and references regarding quilting, especially as it relates to the southern African American culture. Ralph also needed an older woman who sewed, and hand quilted for the role of grandmother, Mary Ann. Since this was not a speaking part and her hands would be the only thing shown in the film, she agreed to take on the role. Marilyn also shared quilts and other items for the set and pictures from her life were used on the walls of the set. she also had to complete the binding on the featured quilt.
